“Michigan has really out-punched its weight in terms of securing Chinese investment,” says Brian Connors, executive director of the state-backed Michigan-China Innovation Center. “We have dominated in getting Chinese automotive investment.”
“The first Michigan-China Week represents a culmination of a number of efforts underway for the last seven years,” said Brian Connors, executive director of the state-funded Michigan-China Innovation Center, which is leading the program.
These are certainly interesting, if not precarious, times for China and the U.S., and the people who working hard to build stronger economic ties between Michigan and the Asian nation.
Snyder is in China until Nov. 19 on his sixth investment mission to the country. This year’s mission seeks to increase exports from Michigan to China.
It’s the first time that Republican Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and Democratic Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan will travel on a trade mission together seeking more overseas trade and tourism.
